Sign-in fix for IE users
by Simon ini think i finally tracked down the bug that was affecting ie users - you should now be able to sign in and use the site.
i've only had chance to test with ie 11 but it should work with ie 10 as well, i'm not sure about ie 9 and ie 8 or older is doubtful.. fingers crossed we get some replies from ie'ers.
note: there may still be other issues but the first and biggest hurdle is getting signed on..

Just tried to log on with a different computer using IE 11. Every time I went to the JWN page and hit the signin button my IE stopped working and wanted to close down. After several attempts I opened up the Chrome browser (which I've never used on this particular device) and logged on to make this post.
I don't know all the technical stuff. Not a computer nerd by a long, long shot. What I know is that yesterday I was able to log on with IE 11 using my older laptop device. Today I'm on a desktop unit that is much newer (and which supposedly has bells and whistles galore) and faster and was unable to use IE 11 to do anything here. I tried clicking on a discussion topic and, well, nothing. After a couple minutes (or so) IE said the page was not responding and IE shut down.

Had one hell of a time getting logged on here. After struggling with IE 11 I finally opened up a version of Chrome I haven't used in years, if ever. IE 11 just won't work. Finally got logged in with it, but couldn't see any text box. Using my Chrome browser to post this. Wish I had more patience with all this technology, but I don't. Thanks Simon for all your hard work. Hope all goes well for everyone. -

by Marvin Shilmer intoday i added a new article to my blog.
the information is a little dated.
material cited was published in 1973. but i don't find any good sources online for this information so i published it myself.. the doctor involved (now deceased) was dr. j lowell dixon.

There is another JW medical doctor who has published articles more recently in support of Watchtower's blood doctrine. He did this in year 2007 and again in year 2011. His name is Harvey Jon Schiller.
His work is telling in that he offers no shred of biblical support. But his work is telling for something else too.
Of Dr. Schiller's work:

The doctor involved (now deceased) was Dr. J Lowell Dixon. He was Medical Director for Watchtower for years. This is the first instance known to me where Dr. Dixon went on the record with a published article presenting theological premises supposely in support of Watchtower's infamous blood doctrine. His premises are false at every turn. None of this is earth-shaking news. But Dixon's article deserves attention for sake of those who might Google it (or Dixon) and need reference material.
The article is titled Watchtower Top Doctor on Blood and is available at: http://marvinshilmer.blogspot.com/2014/12/watchtower-top-doctor-on-blood.html

How do you overcome this JW excuse?
by EdenOne induring one of those meetings that took place before my jc, one of the elders, who was a good friend of mine back then and used to come up with a few outlandish personal views about some teachings, attempted to counter one of my arguments like this:.
eden - "well, if the truth doesn't change, why is it that what we teach as 'truth' has changed over the years (several examples given)?
how can we dogmatically claim at any given moment that we have 'the truth' if our teachings keep changing?".

I would simply blink my eyes, smile and say, "You're scaring me!"
That's perfect!!!

Elder - "The Organization is only wrong when we look back and see that Jehovah corrected its course. So, it's only wrong in retrospect, never at present time. If Jehovah allows for a teaching or procedure to persist, it's because He wants it that way, therefore it can Never be wrong at any time in present time".
That reasoning would mean every religious organization on the face of planet earth teaches "The Truth."
What this man is guilty of is properly termed rationalization. You can't reason with someone who's content to rationalize and call it rational.

Could the allowance of blood fractions be curtailing the growth of the religion?
by Apognophos inso, imagine that you're just a regular joe who's not familiar with the witnesses and is looking for the answers to life, the universe, and everything.
you hear a knock at your door.
before long, you are studying with a jehovah's witness.

I asked the question from an elder/circuit overseer substitute: Where in the Bible can we find support to accept fractions? He said, "I will get back to you".
In year 2000 Watchtower published the GB's reason for not prohibiting blood "fractions" (such as cryoprecipitate, cryosupernatant, albumin and a long, long list of other blood derivatives) saying, "The Bible does not give details, so a Christian must make his own conscientious decision before God."
So I asked a then CO "Where does the Bible give details about white cells isolated from blood so a Christian knows accepting this from blood is wrong?
He looked at me with a blank stare and replied, "We have the faithful slave to help us understand that issue". I pressed the issue saying "Yes. I understand the slave gives us its conclusion that accepting white cells is wrong, but what biblical text gives any more detail about white cells compared with cryoprecipitate so we know accepting one is definitely wrong whereas accepting the other may not definitely be wrong?"
He recommended I pray about it. I told him I had prayed mightily about it and so far had not gotten an answer. He suggested that perhaps my prayers were being hindered due to my critical perspective...
